A Story's End(Week 2)

 The End

Two simple words with lots of meaning behind them. It could mean the end of a chapter in one's life, an end to a story as a whole, or the end of an era. These two words, "the end" carry a large purpose and weight with them. Granted you don't even have to hear these two words in particular to know a story ends, but there's just some comfort in seeing those two words float on by at the end of something.

I noticed that some stories don't exactly end after those words appear though. Take for example, a person's life. That life they lived is their story. It has a set beginning, middle, and end. However, that is not always the case. Some stories end early at the start, others just fade out halfway through, Some finish at the end with a variety of emotions behind them. But others, others continue on through the people who loved them. That story of that person is carried on and expanded upon by those they left behind.

I was at a wake and funeral Thursday and Friday when I came upon this idea. Being surround by those that truly loved the deceased and wanted to carry on their memory and story was an interesting sight to behold. I mean, I've been to funerals in the past, but some just had this feeling be more prominent than others. I sat back and witnessed people rejoicing in the memories they shared, swapping stories, and just genuinely trying to carry on the legacy of others.

Some stories end, others press onwards. No matter what happens though, people will find a way to remember them and pass them on.
